Just a day after the primary election, people of Gasa dzongkhag started moving into the forest, wearing gumboots, carrying bag-packs and raincoats.

“Now it’s time to collect yartsa goenbup (Cordyceps sinensis),” Gem Tshering, who was on his way to collect the highly valued fungus, said.

“We started issuing cordyceps collection permits only after the poll-day, as there were chances that people may not wait until the primary election,” Khamaed gup Karma Tshering said.
